As a music lecturer, Ralf is very comfortable preparing and delivering talks on a wide variety of musical topics, in a relaxed and informal way. These are usually accompanied by relevant images and recorded musical examples.

These can be tailored to a wide variety of levels and ages of audience - from experts to the general public - and to suit a wide variety of social settings.

In October 2017 he gave a talk to Bradford on Avon Recorded Music Society on "listener-friendly contemporary music".
